Temporary Change of Use - Required for structures or portions of structures used as public assemblies not currently having a “Certificate of Occupancy." Fire code definition of “public assembly” consists of 50 or more people. (use of vacant building, warehouse or a high-rise office/garage as a public assembly, etc.) The permit requires on-site fire watch due to conditions the current fire code, size, complexity and/or unique safety issues regarding the activities associated with the proposed event or structure.
Exhibit and Trade Show - Required for facilities hosting events with temporary vendor display or booths within the assembly area of the facility. A floor plan review/inspection is part of the fee. Event centers, conventions centers, arenas, and hotels with ballroom/meeting rooms require permits when hosting an event or when deviating from standard ballroom configuration.
Fireworks - Activities associated with use the of pyrotechnics and/or open flames must be reviewed/approved by the Austin Fire Department in compliance with the current City of Austin fire code. Fireworks Permit Application
