The Austin Nature and Science Center’s Climbing to New Heights program was one of 15 projects selected in 2016 to receive grant funding in the United States. The $20,000 grant helped fund the Austin Nature & Science Center (ANSC) in obtaining an outdoor climbing wall / tower for use on ANSC property. The ANSC currently leads rock climbing excursions for approximately two hundred (200) 9-18 year olds each year. This grant will expand the program and help reach both family groups and younger participants. The climbing structure will be used as an introductory climb for younger participants and will also be more accessible for family groups.
The Parks and Recreation Department would like for you to join us at the new climbing wall unveiling that has been made possible by Disney, ABC and ESPN through the National Recreation and Park Association’s (NRPA) Meet Me at the Park campaign. Installation support was provided through a generous grant from the Austin Parks Foundation.
Spaces available to climb the wall for this event were limited and have been filled.
