You are invited to attend the Park Concept Workshop on Jan. 15, 2018.
The Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) is developing a master plan for the newly enlarged Brownie Neighborhood Park.
Working in conjunction with the North Lamar Combined Neighborhood Plan contact team and Kristine Stiphany of Architecture and Urbanism, (who is providing the services to the contact team pro-bono), the master planning process will seek input from surrounding residents to help provide a vision for the future development of the park.
PARD will host a Park Concept Workshop on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Brownie Park. This is the second in a series of three public meetings. The objectives of this meeting are to share what was learned from the first Planning Workshop and survey, and explore design options that meet the goal of those planning principles.
Park Concept Workshop: Make Decisions Monday, January 15, 2018 3:00- 5:00 PM Brownie Park 10000 Brownie Drive
In 2014, approximately 5 acres of additional parkland was acquired that increases the size of the existing 2 acre Brownie Park to approximately 7.8 acres. The park is located at 10000 Brownie Drive in the North Lamar Neighborhood, and currently contains a playscape on the original park site, and undeveloped land in the recently acquired portion of the park.
The goal of the master planning process is to develop a master plan that responds to the needs of the area's diverse cultures and age groups. The phased project aims to expand citizen participation in the development of a sustainable and valued place for recreation, where neighbors can meet one another and collectively build a strong, healthy community.
The planning process aims to design an urban park for people. It will be undertaken in three phases and the outcomes will address: (1) recreation and play space zones; (2) covered and open seating and eating areas; and (3) access to green space.
